Give Hope

Recently, my friend Natasha and I were catching up in an email. When she brought up a book...

"Have you heard of Kisses from Katie? I don't know if your much into reading but it is SO good, I highly recommend it. She has such a pure heart for people and she is so young, she moved to Africa left her rich home and boyfriend and adopted 13 African girls over a span of time there. She is so inspiring."

I finally got around to buying the book two days ago and it has opened my eyes to so much!

the Journey

"Why me?  Why would God choose me to do this?  But as I think through my life, I see how blessed and loved I have been.  I think it is only normal that God would ask, even require, me to share this love with others who may not know it.  Luke 12:48 says, "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."  And I have been given so much." - Katie

I'm only part way through it and received a couple revelations so far:

1)  I have so much! and with much, much will be demanded.
I need more of a generous heart to give more of my time, money, and love.
2)  TV is a complete waste of time that I will never get back.
(God has been showing me this for a while now but he drove it home with this book)

You can read what Natasha has to say about the book and Africa here.
See Katie's blog from Uganda here.

I also happened upon Ashely's blog.
Ashley and her family are waiting to adopt their baby girl.
She posted a picture of where her daughter is and it was a picture of babies in their metal cribs with wood platforms instead of mattresses.

She writes "Yes, those are wood planks. I’ve been told they are for sanitary reasons (helps prevent lice, scabies, etc.). There are around 24+ babies for every 2 nannies from what I understand. Needless to say, my daughter has spent the majority of her life in one of those cribs. She isn’t outside playing in the grass. She doesn’t get the individual attention babies crave & need. She is one among many. I am a wreck at the thought of it all."

To help the orphanage out where her daughter is now she asked for help to buy an incubator that cost $1400.00.

I donated.

and so did many others!

She posted an update and the grand total is now $13,000 and counting!
Go here to see what they are doing with the money.
Go here to read about and donate to this project!

As a thank you for donating Ashley sent me this amazing print by Recipe for Crazy!
Song is the surname of all the children in the orphanage.

My life recently...

Visited an new Asian market and found these guys!
Had our class online this week.
I get my desktop wallpaper from here.

We saw the most AMAZING double rainbow.  It may have been the brightest rainbow I've ever seen!
A storm was moving in...
This is the very first dandelion I've seen this year.
Last summer we found this kitten abandoned in the woods
and our friends kept her.
I went to visit her!

Happy Friday!

Have Hope

He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen.
Come, see where his body was lying.

Happy Easter!

Dog Days: Glacier Swims!

Neither of our dogs swim.  They love to splash around in water but they never actually swim.  Ryan threw a log into the water and Glacier wanted it so much he SWAM to retrieve it!
Sadly, Glacier never did get the log but he made two attempts!
We are so proud of him.
In case you are wondering where Azul is this whole time...
To see more of Glacier loosing sticks and rocks in water go here and here.
